Greenhouse Family Session
This stunning reclaimed window greenhouse makes a beautiful backdrop to any portrait. It has so much character! Layers of color, texture, and light give it so much versatility, and it gives a new view from every angle. And as if that weren’t enough, it’s surrounded by wildflowers. What a striking setting for a portrait session!
Getting all of their expressions
When you bring me your little ones, I work hard to get as many of their classic expressions as possible. That face she makes All. The. Time? That doesn’t last forever, and whether you are glad or sad to see it outgrown, you will always have a beautiful portrait to remember their big personality in this little moment.
The Jones Family
This family came to me by way of a silent auction for a wonderful organization, Hearts Against Hunger. Started by a local mom, this wonderful organization provides food to children whose main source of nutrition is “free and reduced” breakfast and lunch at school and families in need who might not qualify for other support. They raise funds, awareness (and volunteers!) to directly combat food insecurity in our local community. They have done so much good for people in need of a helping hand, and I love participating in their annual auction to raise funds for their mission.
So I knew before I even met them that this was a family with hearts of gold. They also have the most adorable golden-haired little girl who won my heart telling me about Burple (a dinosaur that eats rocks and has several stomachs, for those of you that are not in the Rescue Riders age bracket. The more you know.)
In our Design Consultation, as we talked through some of the options for locations and feel, it became clear quickly that this was perfectly suited to a greenhouse family session. So with the greenhouse booked, we walked through the planning of the rest of the details.
We had already rescheduled our session once for 70% chance of rain, so on our rescheduled session date we decided to brave the 50/50 chance of pop-up thunderstorms. It turned out to be the right decision. We could not have had more beautiful weather. Which, for anyone wondering, is a perfect size for a kids’ play house. Well, play mansion. So it is a hit with the grownups and the kids!
We twirled, played games, thought about what kinds of things her parents might do with her when she’s old enough, swung, ran through the wildflowers, explored the greenhouse and just generally had a lovely time playing. And at the end of it, we had a beautiful gallery full of not just portraits, but memories to enjoy forever.
