Ready to Get Out of the House?
Social-distancing friendly events for September to enjoy (with or without the kids!)September 2020
Have Fun Getting Out of the House (or Staying In!) While Staying Safe
Let’s be honest, it’s been a challenging couple of months for many people. Whether you’re on the front lines saving lives, or just trying to conduct conference calls with tiny hooligans helpers adding their input, life for most of us is very different than it was a year ago. While there have been days when I have relished the less hectic, slower pace of COVID life, I could tell that my littles were desperately missing the family friendly social activities that our area is known for providing. Although many events have been canceled, there are still venues that are offering ways to have fun as a family.
Fun.
With Other People.
Safely.
September 2020
Follow the links below for more details on each event. For fun with your kids, Discovery Kids is hosting a great event at Halcyon, on Wednesdays @ 10:30. It’s free, but be sure to register before hand. If you’re looking for family fun that is more socially distant, check out this year’s virtual Suwanee Fest. Participate from your own home, including submitting video for the parade.
Now, I love my children and I want them to be happy. BUT. Adults need to have fun too, so check out the Cornhole League. Frank confession – I am TERRIBLE at cornhole. Absolutely zero hand eye coordination. My athletic style could best be described as “ouch, that looked like it hurt”. That doesn’t stop me from having a great time playing, and it shouldn’t stop you either!
Next we have lots of Farmers Market options. Ok, admittedly it could be controversial to include farmers’ markets as “fun”. I just love a good farmers market – fresh farm-to-table produce, local honey, artisan cheese (I would go just for the cheeses alone….)….wait, where was I? Oh yes, love of farmers markets. So for me, this a fantastic way to spend the day. For other people in my household (ahem…hubs) it is sheer torture. But I like farmers’ markets, and this is my list of fun, so here are a few farmer’s markets to visit. Have fun! (See what I did there?)
If you want to something more physically rejuvenating, Alpharetta has some great free, outdoor classes. Again, this could definitely be a subjective topic for fun. But it’s FREE! If you ever wanted to try out yoga but didn’t want to invest in something you weren’t sure about, here is the perfect opportunity to try a yoga class. What do you have to lose? Except maybe that tightness in your lower back and shoulder. And as long as you’re trying out free yoga, why not give free barre a while too!
Ok, now that you bought all your healthy food and did all your yoga, time for some laughs! Avalon is hosting comedy nights, complete with drink specials, on September 14th and 28th. Seating is separated by groups and limited, so get your tickets early. Feeling more smart than funny? Not in a joking mood? Show your smarts during trivia at Six bridges brewry. Every Tuesday night at 7:00.
